Superman is here, and his name is Sal Khan

Superman is here, and his name is Sal Khan. What started as a project to help teach his cousins has turned into what has the potential to completely change the game in education.

Khan has been recording simple video lessons for hundreds of different concepts from math to science to world history. He has made them all available for free online, and he has created some amazing tools that allow parents, teachers, home schoolers and tutors to track with real time fine grain detail the progress of the students.

Currently, teachers get to spend about 5% of their time interacting with students, the rest is spent lecturing, giving exams, etc. This new model completely turns the classroom upside down -- students can be assigned the videos for home work, and then in class they get mentoring from the teacher and each other.

The system is FREE, being used in schools now, and is READY FOR YOUR SCHOOL TO ADOPT. We'd love to see some of our readers make an effort to pilot the KHAN program in your district.

How else are teens going to learn about different cultures without being forced to watch an actual beheading on video? The teacher showed the anti-Islam film, Fitna, and began desensitizing her students to extreme graphic violence. It's one thing to talk about death, but maybe we should reconsider having viewing parties in high school classrooms. I can only imagine how they teach sex Ed!

Kindergarten Teacher Sends Bag of Poop Home With Student

Story: Kindergarten Student Sent Home With Bag of Feces And Note From The Teacher

So, the teacher finds a turd on the floor. She assumes it's from a student who had had some accidents before, and decides the best idea would be to wrap the little guy (the poop, not the pupil) in a paper towel, and send it home with the student.

From the mom:

"She found a clear plastic bag with a piece of fecal matter wrapped up in a brown paper towel with the note on it. This little turd was on the floor in my room. And that's all it says. Nothing else. If it was his did she see him do this? Did she follow him around to make sure this was his, did she see it drop out? Or just assume it was his because he had an accident a couple of months ago?"

Say Mrs. Graham, are you sure that little turd you found wasn't just what you've been passing off as your teaching credentials?
