Finally! Now the 69-year old student can receive his/her high school diploma. I feel bad for the kid who reserved the books next.

Rivals cooperate on touchdown for player with Down syndrome

Story: Rivals cooperate on touchdown for player with Down syndrome

Every once and a while we like to shed some positive light on those who deserve it. True sportsmanship was shown by the players and coaches in a Benton vs. Maryville high school football game when they let a player score and avoid a shut out victory. The winning team allowed Matt Ziesel, a freshman with down syndrome to rush in for a touchdown during the closing minutes of the game. It has left an impact on the community and reminded many that sometimes it's not always about winning.

Teen tackles armed girl on Miss. school bus

When you're the #19 ranked defensive end in the nation among high school athletes, you've got a pretty good resume so far. Now Kaleb Eulls can add "hero" to his list of credentials. The 14-year old girl who starting waving a semi-automatic handgun on his school bus didn't have a chance against the 6'4'', 255-pound man-child who tackles kids for a living. It takes a lot of guts to stare at a loaded gun while rescuing the other 22 students on the bus, and for that Kaleb gets a gold star in our book.

She gave up a new car, a pageant wardrobe, and $15,000 to teach middle school instead. It's not every day that a teacher puts the kids first, so Miss Higgins should be recognized for this sacrifice. Don't worry, she's probably still the hottest teacher in school though.

Story: Fruita Monument seniors pull off quite the prank

Mark this day in history- A senior prank that doesn't result in suspensions or the threat of withholding a diploma. The boys welded an old Eagle around a flagpole, and the principal was cool with it. In fact, he was impressed they did it without damaging anything. Hats off young lads, hats off.

Someone once posed the question: How can we engage kids by combining creativity and new technologies? Well, I think we found one answer. It's about time we have evidence that a teacher is appealing to things kids like in a way that educates them about current topics. Let's maybe build on ideas like this and go back to a fun classroom environment that doesn't revolve around standardized tests. (You can find a follow-up video that interviews these students here)
