A Cape Cod school issued a vague but controversial statement proclaiming it's safe sex stance, allowing school children in Cape Cod to obtain condoms if needed. After much controversy, the school corrected their misunderstood statement, clarifying the age they meant, not allowing condoms to be given to elementary aged children.

Allegations that a 6 yr old student at Middleton’s Fuller Meadow Elementary School has been sexually abusing other students hit the radar this week. Reports that 10 other students have been victims of the abuse. The student has been removed from the school.. however, the bigger issue here seems to be -- what is going on with this kid at home? I'd bet my lunch money this little guy has been the victim of some sort of sexual abuse himself.

Of all the reasons to cancel class, this school has closed twice now in two weeks because they can't seem to sort out their rat problem. While some schools have started to resemble prisons, this one is taking a different route...making their classrooms seem like sewers. All for the children!

It must be hard to teach the English languange when you don't fully grasp it yourself. But at some point this school decided to hire this teacher whose proficiency has been described as "utterly incomprehensible." Now tempers are flaring on both sides of the debate because she was fired and plans to sue the school for over $1 million. That will buy a lot of English speaking courses.

Whether or not you believe in the story of Jesus, it is widely accepted that he died while crucified on a cross. The image isn't a warped interpretation of death from a violent 8-year old. The school administration disagrees. After seeing the above drawing, the boy was sent home and recommended for a psychological evaluation. I don't even think Jesus himself was so quick to call someone a 'sinner!'

Anything that has any resemblance to either Christmas or religion was scratched off the inventory list at this elementary school. This includes Santa, candy canes, stockings, basically anything green or red. We've already accepted that we can't call it "Christmas" in schools anymore, but now we're stripping away all holiday spirit? At this pace, I give it about ten years until children don't even get this day off from school.

According to Merriam-Webster, the word 'meep' has absolutely no meaning. According to the principal at Danvers High, it stands for complete disrespect and disruption of the education process. Leave it to high school kids to find a creative way to have innocent fun around the hallways (and then get in trouble for it). Some MIT students rigged up a used digital camera, weather balloon, cell phone and Styrofoam beer cooler to take photos of outer space. Amazing. The total cost was $148 and didn't require any special hacking of the components -- this would be an amazing science class or art / photography project for a class or independent student. Of course, if the gov keeps cutting NASA spending, this might be the only way the current generation sees outer space. Next up, turn some toilet paper rolls, a pack of jumbo sparklers and a gold fish bowl into a space ship.

In an effort to prepare for the digital age, the school is clearing out the entire library to create a technology center. Some say it will be easier for the students to adapt to and learn in this environment, while critics argue that the value of books cannot be replaced by computers. Well, after reading the article, I am sure there is one thing that everyone can agree on- the $50,000 coffee shop is the best practical use of their budget.

They've recently added a math section to the state's licensing exam. 75% of the future teachers failed it. To put that into more simple terms- 3 out of every 4 test-takers don't know how to teach math to elementary and middle school students. This means there is a high probability that schools won't be looking to employ them. You can use mental math on that one.
Drunken driving arrest for Mass. high school prom limo driver

A school in Rhode Island had to ban limos to prevent drunk driving on prom night. I guess we now have to factor in the limo driver getting boozed as well. Students became suspicious when the he kept trying to talk them in to swinging by the Taco Bell drive-thru on the way home. Maybe next year we'll just let mom and dad drive.
