Story: Student suspended for wearing Santa Claus suit to suburban Philadelphia high school

The student was handing out candy canes and the principal was handing out suspensions. The principal allegedly also threw a fit when he found out that Tiny Tim was going to have Christmas this year.

Kalamazoo Catholic schoolchildren write letters to Baby Jesus instead of Santa

Story: Kalamazoo Catholic schoolchildren write letters to Baby Jesus instead of Santa

This year for Christmas, the child of Christ will be receiving notes from children instead of Santa Claus. These kids are going to be in for a heartbreaker when they realize that neither Santa or baby Jesus exist! Furthermore, even if baby Jesus received letters from a classroom of children...infants can't read! No wonder our kids aren't doing well in school.

Local girl banned from singing 'Christmas'

Story: Local girl banned from singing 'Christmas'

The little girl was all ready to sing a Christmas song by Alvin and the Chipmunks in her school talent show, until she was reminded that Christmas does not exist anymore. Years ago, Jesus and Santa got together and decided they needed to evaluate some of their marketing strategies. The end result was a compromise in which both parties felt that to avoid class-action law suits, it would be financially beneficial to remove their products from public schools. And that's when we substituted the word "holiday" into everything.

Christmas Music Banned In Jersey School District

Story: Christmas Music Banned In Jersey School District

"I must stop this whole thing! Why, for fifty-three years I've put up with it now. I must stop Christmas from coming... but how?" -The Grinch

Rudolph and Frosty might get the year off in these New Jersey schools. It's actually not beginning to look a lot like Christmas because they are banning all music after a recent parent complaint. The annual holiday musical program is sure to interesting this year.

Chelmsford school bans holiday items at gift shop

Story: Chelmsford school bans holiday items at gift shop

Anything that has any resemblance to either Christmas or religion was scratched off the inventory list at this elementary school. This includes Santa, candy canes, stockings, basically anything green or red. We've already accepted that we can't call it "Christmas" in schools anymore, but now we're stripping away all holiday spirit? At this pace, I give it about ten years until children don't even get this day off from school.

Elementary School Bans Halloween Costumes

Story: Elementary School Bans Halloween Costumes

It's no longer called "Halloween." Now it's "Fall Festival." The principal banned masks and costumes because it makes it difficult to identify people. THAT'S THE POINT OF A COSTUME! The principal is also researching other ways to ensure her students don't have fun...ever.

School Bans Students from Bringing Birthday Gifts to Class

Story: School Bans Students from Bringing Birthday Gifts to Class

On the principals 'to do' list:

-Increase test scores
-Decrease drop-out rates
-Curb school bullying
-Eliminate birthday parties
-End fun

It's good to see we are really focusing on the hard-hitting issues facing our education system.

Litchfield School Doesn't Heart Valentine's Day

Whether or not the event has any real merit, at some point the country decided to make Valentine's Day a national holiday. But one school in Connecticut plays by their own rules, and doesn't allow the children to acknowledge this day exists. The school is currently combing through teachers lessons plans in effort to cancel anything else that might suggest the students are having fun.

Janitor fired after racist Christmas ornament found

Story: East Texas school janitor fired after racist Christmas ornament found

This janitor seems to have a different definition of "White Christmas." He would prefer hanging nooses instead of mistletoes. Well, his warped holiday spirit just cost him his job, and made the school feel a lot better about the people they hire.

Letter to Santa leads to molestation charge

Story: Letter to Santa leads to Texas molestation charge

What's the best way to find out there is no Santa? Well, for one 9-year old Texas girl it was asking for her and her sister to stop being raped by a school employee. But I guess this also supports any advocates of allowing young children to believe in Santa Clause. Because if it wasn't for the magic of Jolly Ole St. Nick, these girls would have to continue their "nightmare of sexual abuse." I wonder if prison inmates celebrate Christmas?

Teacher Tells 7-Year-Olds Santa Is Not Real

Story: Outrage After Teacher Tells 7-Year-Olds Santa Is Not Real

What a way to ring in the Christmas spirit, by leaving a class of 7-year olds in tears after telling them there is no such thing as Santa. For some reason this teacher thought that these 25 students best hear it from a trusted adult, rather than a deceiving parent. The plan actually backfired when the kids realized there is no incentive to be naughty or nice, so they became disruptive or the rest of the day. (This is, of course, once they were done crying.)

Schools cancel Thanksgiving dress up

Story: Schools cancel Thanksgiving dress up

The school has had kids dress up like Indians and Pilgrims for over forty years now, but all of a sudden some parents feel the tradition is racist and supports stereotypes. It's not like they are re-enacting wars and leaving bloodshed Native Americans everywhere. It's in innocent class of five-year olds who probably get the most fun by cutting shapes out of colored construction paper. Some protesters are also pushing for a holiday the day after Thanksgiving to honor American Indians, but it is predicted that too many panicky shoppers will be too busy loading up on electronics at Best Buy to remember to celebrate.

Jesus costume gets child sent home from school

Story: Jesus costume gets child sent home from school

It wasn't so much that the costume was distracting. It wasn't even for religious reasons. The school was angered when they learned that during lunch time he was changing everyone's drinks into wine.

Halloween drawing scares teacher

Story: Halloween drawing scares teacher, gets student in hot water

His assignment was to draw a "scary Halloween mask." I would say the assignment has been completed. If the art teacher did not want to see a final image like this, then she should have asked the students to draw a picture of kittens playing in a flower bed under a rainbow. But instead this fifth grader is now subject to a pysch evaluation. School sounds so fun!

Worst Halloween Party Ever

Story: Grapes and carrots vs. choclate bars: Schools rein in Halloween

Instead of candy bars, parents have been encouraged to send their students to school with: fruit, vegetables, pencils, or books for the library. Pencils for Halloween?!! How are kids gonna get a sugar-buzz from eating a pencil? I agree that healthy habits should be practiced in school, but let's make a couple exceptions please! Worst Halloween party ever!

School bans costumes from game

Story: Fillmore bans costumes from game

School officials also refuse to recognize that Halloween is a day that for the most part is celebrated by the entire country, and celebrated by dressing up in costumes. In the 80's the Friday the 13th and Halloween films were fine, but ever since the first Scream movie came out we've left adults with a sense of fear that anyone in a costume could be a potential killer. Now everything associated with Halloween is also directly linked to unsafe environments. So sorry kids, no football game for you. I guess that just means more candy!

Many schools avoid Halloween candy, costumes

Story: Many schools avoid Halloween candy and costumes

Candy? Makes kids fat. Costumes? Too distracting. Fun? Certainly not in my school. Schools, with the help of finicky parents, have gradually started removing anything interesting or creative about going to class. Pretty much everything that we might associate with childhood, some one has found a way to make it seem too offensive, inappropriate, or dangerous for schools. And yet we still sit around scratching our heads to why education is failing?

Schools ban birthday cakes

Story: Schools as birthday-cake-free zones

They've decided it's not really in the schools best interest to allow students to acknowledge their birthdays. One reason is that not all families can afford to supply their kids with snacks for the class. So now, not only are we depriving all the children of these tasty treats, but the poor students will never have the luxury of eating a cupcake. It also didn't help that the principal was rapidly gaining weight by eating about three pieces of cake a day from various birthdays.

Student says teacher tossed his Mexican flag in trash

Story:Idaho student says teacher tossed his Mexican flag in trash

I guess in Idaho we don't recognize that citizens come to the United States from other countries around the world. The teacher was also allegedly cutting students to make sure that their blood was red, white, and blue.

Razor Blade Found In Valentine Candy

What better way to say "I love you" than seeing someone bleed from the mouth.
But Finally. We have been waiting our whole lives to hear a story that confirms the childhood scare that people are poisoning candy. We can all breathe safely now. Oh, except for the kid that may have swallowed a razor. He's probably having problems with that.
